This song is about who I was when I was 18.
I wanted to take that first step toward my dream, but I was terrified of what might happen if I did.
I remember sitting alone in my room, worrying about what people might say, how they might look at me, and even imagining the boos before I had done anything at all. I cared so much about what others might think that I couldn't bring myself to move forward.
Even while I was drowning in fear and doubt, there was one question I kept asking myself:
"What do you want to be?"
It felt like a cry from somewhere deep inside me, directed at the person I was back then.
And now, this song is for anyone who's scared or uncertain, but still trying to take that first step.

Ueki Soyoka
Osaka-born singer-songwriter Ueki Soyoka is a self-produced artist who handles everything from lyrics and composition to artwork herself. She began her music career in 2018, and in January 2024 released the digital single Slow morning under the name Ueki Soyoka. She has also held a successful solo show at BIGCAT in Osaka. Now based in Tokyo, she continues to gain attention as one of the next breakout artists to watch.
