Hand in Hand

Eri Imamachi

「Hand in Hand」

Something irreplaceable

Has disappeared from my world

A pain that won’t go away, a sadness that I can’t say

Why was I allowed to live?

Spilling from the depths of my heart

Are feelings I can’t bear

Though I’m anxious and cannot see ahead

Life is lit up

You are never alone

So don't let the light of hope go out

May a gentle wind

Bring you love

You are as you are

You can carry on straight ahead

Let’s stand together, support each other and live together

Hand in hand

Everybody is born with

A precious smile

Your life shines

Are you aware of that?

We all have weaknesses and strengths

We’re all the same, all human beings

That's why we live and connect with each other

Just like you and me, too

You are as you are

You can carry on straight ahead

Let’s stand together, support each other and live together

Hand in hand

Your light and someone else’s light

Every time it touches, it grows bigger

Ride your heartbeat, open your heart

And, now, let it go!

You are as you are

You can carry on straight ahead

Let’s stand together, support each other and live together

Hand in hand

You are as you are

You can carry on straight ahead

Let’s stand together, support each other and live together

Hand in hand

    Hand in Hand

    Eri Imamachi

We are never alone.
Even when we cannot see it, even when we cannot feel it,
we are always walking forward-hand in hand-with someone.

This song was born from my own experience of surviving disaster,
and from memories of being saved by music.
Believing in the warmth of hands that connect us across the world,
I now offer it forth on a path of light.

At times gentle, at times strong,
this is a song for all those who take each step forward-
holding hands with the light, believing in themselves, believing in the world.

May this music, woven with sound, words, and pure vibration,
touch the deepest place in your heart,
and kindle a light of comfort and courage within you.

On June 21, 2025-the Summer Solstice,
the day when light reaches its fullest bloom-
I send this prayer out into the world.

Artist Profile

  • Eri Imamachi

A singer-songwriter from Nakanoto Town, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. She began her musical career in 2015, mainly performing in Tokyo. She released four self-produced singles and one full-length album, and also worked as a radio personality, delivering heartfelt messages through her music and voice. In 2023, she moved her base of activities to Nakanoto, known as the town where the world's oldest rice ball (onigiri) fossil was discovered. Inspired by this, she created a music video titled "ONIGIRI," featuring choreography by KOHMEN. Over 1,000 people-including local students, residents, the Governor of Ishikawa, and Ms. Ukon, the owner of the famous rice ball shop "Bongo" -came together across generations and backgrounds, making it a joyful project that continues to spread nationwide. On January 1, 2024, the Noto Peninsula Earthquake struck, completely destroying her home. From that experience, she wrote and released support songs such as "Te wo Toriatte" and "Hand in Hand." On the six-month anniversary of the disaster, she held support concerts at two evacuation shelters in Wajima City. Even after a year and a half, she continues to sing at support events, temporary housing sites, and festivals across and beyond the prefecture. Last year, she performed in Mie Prefecture, and this year, she expanded her reach to Tokyo (twice) and Fukui, sharing music that brings "courage to live." and "the light of hope." On January 1, 2025, she released the music video for "Hand in Hand," which includes scenes showing the current state of the affected areas, her home scheduled for demolition at the end of August, and her performance with young dancers she met at support events.
