The scent of rain that suddenly begins to fall as I head home in the evening. The smell of gunpowder from fireworks launched on a summer night.
It is said that various scents can awaken memories of the past.
When a memory I had tucked away deep in my heart resurfaces, will I look back on it with nostalgia? Or will it bring me pain?
Either way, perhaps the ability to face those memories is a privilege unique to being human -- a proof that I am alive.
