here They Left Off

A song about walking on from where the fallen left off.

To you, who came through the night reaching out, waiting.
Even on nights that threaten to swallow you, there is a hand held out.

The courage you gave me is here. Deep in the chest, a fire that will not go out keeps burning.
On a night of overflowing tears, in the warmth beside me, I saw the light.

Just because you are here, I can stand up again, as many times as it takes.
Passing it on to the next hand, I walk into the light with you.
