Music is not always born from beautiful emotions.

Jealousy, anger, frustration, defeat, wounded pride-the feelings we would rather keep hidden can sometimes become the most powerful fuel for creation. This project is a record of turning that negative energy into something that moves forward: into songs, words, and ultimately, momentum.

Moving freely between punk, rock and hip-hop, these tracks are not victory laps from someone looking back after making it. They capture the messier moments before success: leaving space in a demo so a band can create together; building a scene in a city where no scene exists; stepping onto a stage against artists you know may destroy you; losing, getting back up, and doing it again.

From the intensity of SUPER BEAVER's live performances to memories of ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL, from small live houses to the realities of work and life outside music, everything exists on the same continuum.

At its core, this is a collection of stories about ordinary people trying to become something more.

But the project never romanticizes ambition.

To compete is to risk losing. To choose one path is to abandon another. Hold too tightly to perfection and the song may never be finished. Hold too tightly to pride and you may never reach the next place.

That is why one line sits at the heart of these songs:

"We had nothing when we started anyway."

It is not nihilism. It is freedom.

If there was nothing at the beginning, perhaps losing something does not have to mean the end. Anger can become passion. Failure can become another verse. Isolation can become a reason to build your own community. Defeat can become proof that you were brave enough to enter the fight.

Negative energy is not erased here. It is transformed.

These songs move through bands, festivals, friendships, careers, regional music scenes and the strange economics of trying to survive through art. Real experiences become punchlines; setbacks become rhythm; contradictions become lyrics.

This is not a success story told from the finish line.

It is music written while still running.

And after all the battles, losses, egos and ambitions, the final message is surprisingly simple:

Bless you, brother.

Because winning alone was never the destination.

Take what you were given, turn it into something of your own, and pass it forward.

For every challenger still trying to create something from nothing this is your demo tape.

Artist Profile

  • YOWAME

YOWAME is a rap duo that transforms questions sent to the YouTube channel The World Only Bandmen Know into original tracks. They have set an ambitious goal of releasing 150 songs a year, which means dropping a full-length album every single month. They are a completely fresh alternative rap outfit that drags the inconvenient truths of the music industry and the raw, gritty reality of bandmen daily life and finances, secrets long buried by both the Japanese indie and major scenes, right out into the open with sharp, cutting raps and highly addictive riffs. Armed with the lyrical prowess of Takuro (Vo, Rap), whose storytelling talent is so profound his novel was adapted into a movie, and the sonic craft of soundtrack composer 812 (Track Maker), the duo keeps up the fight on their main battleground, YouTube, dropping content every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
