関西のアーティストコレクティヴ Soulflexのメンバーとしても活動するシンガーソングライターZINが、最新EP『JOJO』を10/22(水)に配信リリースする。
まとまった作品としては1st Album『CURVE』より約2年ぶりとなる今作は、内省的かつ情熱的なサウンドに磨きをかけ、自身の音楽的
ルーツであるR&B/SOULを繊細に描き出している。静けさと熱が揺らめきながら溶け合う ”今、この瞬間のZIN” を刻んだ一作だ。
EPには、Kzyboost, FKD, 1Co.INR, ji2kia, Aru-2, grooveman Spotといった日本を代表する名だたるBeatmaker/Producerが参加しており、すでに先行シングルとして配信されている、甘美なR&Bスロージャムを彷彿とさせる正統派R&B「超えてゆく」 、ミニマルで奥行きのあるサウンドにラッパーKOJOEを迎えた「Everytime I」 、甘さと痛みが交錯する感情を描いたリリックとチルなサウンドが印象的な「Distortion」 、 “愛することと傷つけることは表裏一体”というテーマを歌った切ないラブソング「Moegara」の4曲に加え、Aru-2をプロデューサーに迎えZINのネオソウルネスが炸裂した「Say So」 、そして今作のリードトラックとなる「In The End」の新曲2曲を収録した全6曲が収められている。
「In The End」はgrooveman Spotがプロデュースを務め、R&B/SOULマナーを踏襲したオーセンティックなサウンドでありながら、都会的に洗練されたトラックに、“浄化と再生”の物語をソウルフルに歌い上げるZINが印象的な一曲だ。
今作のEPは、夜のドライブや、ベッドタイムのひとときにぴっ
たりな、聴く者の魂に静かに、そしてじんわりと熱を帯びていく作品に仕上がっている。
