Rose's Sigh

This piece features two soprano saxophones and a performance using the spiccato technique on bowed saxophones. Spiccato is a special technique where the middle of the bow is dropped onto the string and immediately lifted to produce short notes.

The title of the piece, "Sigh of a Rose," uses the "rose" to symbolize an ennui-filled, mysterious, and alluring woman. As the album cover image suggests, the singer, while sipping a cocktail, seems to have some time to spare in the evening, hinting at a lack of fulfillment in life.
