The Jiggy Beats Jazz Orchestra is a Tokyo-based orchestra that combines the complex flavors of jazz with the groove of hip-hop and the passion that only a large band can bring to a big band that makes audiences sing and dance. After its predecessor band formed in 2018, the current lineup consists of a horn section with unique members who have deep knowledge of big band jazz, a rhythm section active in a variety of genres, and vocalist Ayami, who captivates with his sad yet powerful voice. While pursuing their own unique sound, the group places importance on mixing with other artists to create a new world, and has produced a variety of live performances and songs.
Their new song "Pedestrian Bridge" was inspired by the view from a pedestrian bridge in Shibuya, their base of operations, and is a song about "fruitless love in the city. The song alternates between a song that pays respect to the City Pop of yesteryear and a carefully crafted rap song, incorporating various devices that create a synergistic effect when Bigband x Rap are combined, making it a song that can be enjoyed even after repeated listening.
Kingo, who has been a topic of conversation since his appearance at the FUJIROCK FESTIVAL in 2023, joins the band as a rapper. Because Kingo has been active with the Jiggy Beats Jazz Orchestra for some time, he is able to create a comfortable groove with a big band and a high affinity with the live performance.
