  • INUSHIKI

    The band formed in 1999 in Tokyo by Waseda University students Yohei Miyake (G, Vo), Seitaro Mine (G) and Shoji Ishiguro (Bass). They were soon joined by Kazunari Kakinuma (Dr), who Yohei worked with at the same part-time job. They maintained Kichijōji as their home ground, while expanding to other areas of Tokyo and eventually playing gigs all across Japan. In 2002, they released their first EP with the indie label Colla Disc, and then made their major label debut in the following year under Victor Entertainment. By a tragic hand of fate, on the very day before their major release, label director Motoya Mizunuma-who discovered the band at a live music club in Koenji-lost his life in a surfing accident. In 2004, the band went independent again, this time with their own label Provincia Records, and hit the road, touring the country and rocking venues with their unique sound of rock and reggae soaked in an array of world music flavors. The band was eventually joined by Kazunori Inujima (PA), Motoharu (Sax), IZPON (Percussion), and frequently played with Latyr Sy (Djembe) and Hiroking (Blues Harp) for many performances. In 2009, the band went on hiatus and each member focused on their own solo work. In 2017, they rejoined forces. Kicking it off with the outdoor music festival ITADAKI in Shizuoka, they smoothly returned to the scene, performing and recording music while actively working on other projects. 2020 saw the establishment of INUSHIKI Production, and the release of "Yama Uta"-the band's new release in 12 years.
