The Japan Philharmonic Summer Concerts were launched in 1975 as a pioneering parent-child concert program in the hope of "bringing the wonder of the power of music to children with tender sensibilities. The concerts are held every year during the summer vacation period from late July to early August at about 15 halls in the Tokyo metropolitan area, and to date, more than 1.1 million children and their families have experienced the wonders of music.
Nowadays, classical music and orchestra concerts for children are held in many places, but no other concert has been loved by everyone for such a long time. Children who grew up listening to the Japan Philharmonic Summer Concerts eventually become parents and bring their children to the concerts. These concerts are loved and passed down from parents to their children and from children to their grandchildren.
