This is the second piece of the 'Divertimento' and corresponds tonally to 'Menuett II'. This piece is also composed from a single theme and its derivative elements. It is in the form of A-B-A', following the sonata form, with the B section developing the opening theme and building up to the climax, which is fused with the theme reproduction in the A section. The second theme appears in the same form and key as before, creating a sense of return. The coda is also a variation of the opening theme. The piece as a whole has a transitional character with strong tonal instability. In the first piece, 'Serenade',there is a preview of this piece, and here, too, the beginning of the next piece, 'Menuett I',is hinted at the end of the piece. In this piece, the orchestra is joined by timpani.
