Maika Loubté released her album Lucid Dreaming on October 20, 2021. This album release came approximately 2 years and 3 months after the release of Closer in July 2019.
The album was created as a concept piece where dreams and reality crossover into a single story. Lucid Dreaming, which means "a dream in which the dreamer is aware of dreaming," features several tracks inspired by songs Maika Loubté heard and experiences she had in her dreams.
The album cover art depicts an alien-like creature from the music video for "Spider Dancing," a single released in May. The artwork presents a fantastical concept, where the creature embodies the human soul and moves between dreams and reality.
The album includes the album edit version of "Show Me How," a song that became a major topic as the theme for a Mazda commercial featuring Maika herself, as well as "It's So Natural" featuring guest vocals by AAAMYYY, and "System," a track co-produced with Canadian music producer Ryan Hemsworth, among other tracks. In total, the album contains 14 tracks, including pre-release singles.
With instrumental tracks woven throughout, all 14 songs form a cohesive story, and the artist encourages listeners to experience the full album from beginning to end.
