He is a Nigerian-born Afrobeat and rap artist. He was born and raised in Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria. His relatives gave him the nickname "Bishop" because his father was a Christian minister. He later decided to add "Excel" to his stage name, shortening it to "XL." Thus, he began calling himself "Bishop XL." During his high school days, Bishop XL would perform popular songs to his school mates; mimicking his favorite Artists like the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti, and even some American Hiphop Artists. He decided to delve into the music business when he stopped doubting his talent in songwriting, composing, singing and rapping. For starters, he founded his record label Clergy Entertainment, and later changed the name to Kleji Inc. He has 2 EPs and many Singles to his belt, currently working on his Full studio Album. He is the 1st Afro beat music Artist in Japan, promoting the African Culture. Recently, he signed a promotion deal with a Record label - Nahfconnects, based in Tokyo, Japan.
