Into the Light from the Silent Abyss

I’ve peered into the abyss.
Though, it wasn’t just peering—
For fourteen years, I was simply made to exist inside a bottomless world of white, black, and gray.
Inside my own Schizophrenia's Abyss.
Forever and ever.
Forever and ever.

You be fire. Abyss is silent.
It’s on me, fire. This alone is dry.
You’re my fire. Abyss is silent.
It’s on me, fire. This alone is dry.

Fourteen years.
The numerous auditory hallucinations that criticized my entire soul, the paranoia, the delusions—and once they finally quieted down, came an all-consuming, around-the-clock depression. Almost always in bed, breathing like a dying insect.
When a person is kept in pain for long enough, they end up as nothing more than a hollow vessel. As if their soul had already left.
Because the Abyss split my soul right in half,
I can consume the light, and I can consume the darkness, too.
Maybe that makes me a rare, incredibly fortunate existence.
Or maybe, I'm just a monster, maybe...
But I want to become a being of light.
Just like all of you are, I want to be light.
That is the answer I found while in the abyss.
My... answer.
