[1165] "The Feast of the Polar Night" is a work centered on the themes of fleeting pleasure and escapism-things we seek out to turn our gaze away from suffering and sorrow.
When periods of hardship and pain drag on, we eventually become adept at finding ways to distract ourselves from that suffering.
Keeping up a constant clamor. Laughing things off. Becoming dependent on something. Keeping ourselves so busy that we have no time to think.
These things may lighten the heart for a moment. Yet, the pain lingering deep within-and the underlying problems themselves-do not simply vanish.
Perhaps an endless feast is merely the flip side of endless suffering.
Will you continue the feast to forget your pain?
Or will you bring the feast to an end and face your own wounds?
As long as you keep looking away from the root of the matter, the night will never truly break. Facing pain is agonizing. Yet, a new morning exists only beyond that struggle.
What is the "feast" that *you* need to bring to an end?
