Message for the Release of Yellow Monkey Orchestla
This is my first full-length album.
From composing and writing lyrics, to singing, rapping, recording, and mixing-
I handled every process entirely on my own.
Yet, I never compromised on quality.
I am confident this is a work that can stand on the global stage and compete seriously.
The phrase "Yellow Monkey" in the album's title
has a history of being used as a slur to mock people of Asian descent,
a symbol of discrimination.
But isn't music made by "Yellow Monkeys"cool?
Aren't samurai cool?
With this title, I wanted to overwrite those old values.
This is a message to overcome the negative meaning, reclaiming pride and strength.
As a "samurai," as a "warrior class,"
as a "Japanese,"
as a "lazy" self,
as a "father to my daughter,"
as an "irresponsible eldest son carrying the family's burden,"
I put all of these selves into this album.
One album, one song, can change the world-
that dream still hasn't ended.
Within me flows
classical music, pop, rock, hip-hop, electro, EDM... all these influences
have shaped who I am today.
My life was changed by just one album:
Kanye West's The College Dropout,
and Eminem's 8 Mile.
Back then, I admired bands like OASIS, Nirvana, and Ging Nang Boyz,
pouring my life into that band dream.
But now, at 33 years old, I am alone.
That's why I chose rap-a way to express myself alone,
and packed my life into it.
I want money.
I want to leave proof that I lived.
And I want someone to know-
and for that message to eventually reach my daughter.
If you like this work,
please recommend it to those in positions of influence.
From the bottom up, I will make the world a little more interesting.
Mageole is a Japanese independent artist creating music from a small room and connecting to the world through the internet. Over the past five years he has continued making music while building connections with other artists online. Many of his collaborations are not born from the same city but from the same signal. Tracks like Ii Tomo feat 1046 and DOMO feat Botsu come from that connection with artists meeting across distance and creating together through music. His sound blends chill hip hop and lo fi textures with raw emotional writing shaped by a background in Japanese youth punk and years of independent creation. Mageole music is not about perfection. It is about movement and connection and the idea that somewhere in the world someone might find a moment of their own story inside the sound. In an era where the internet connects strangers across continents Mageole believes music can turn those connections into something real.
