125th Street Knowledge - Brother Polight tribute (DJ SHARK Remix)

MBanja Ritchy

It’s a waste of time trying to reason with toxic intoxicated people

What you read in a book is not necessarily gonna help or give you an answer

Who has the coldest ice who has the hottest fire

Lyrics are hot like magma, things’ll get hotter

When I was a kid I listened to greats and fully embraced the Hip Hop movement

Light years ahead of my peers

Too much you love to hear yourself talk

Now walk that walk when you talk that talk

This music is highly slept on…but you will find gems in here

Solidify the respect I deserve and the wick wack will get served like tennis

Or more like MMA

I’m a menace

A threat to emcees who disagree please I’m not here to please

If you didn’t really know now you know now

If you didn’t really know now you know now

It’s a ball of confusion cuz God never wrote a book

Even if you had a crystal ball that worked

You know I’d change my fate now you plan to escape

You tried to ask me some hard hitting question

You didn’t manage to cause damage

Get rid of that mental baggage

It’s not gonna put to any use

You beat up on people with limited knowledge because you really thought your college was gonna help

I got a degree in Hip Hop University

And 125 th Street Knowledge, drop a bomb like Khalid,Brother Saneter,Brother Griff and Brother Polite

I’m a rebel like Sékou Touré

I don’t play, ain’t no joke like Eric B and Rakim

Cuz if you didn’t really know now you know now

“I love to listen to people… who bring science you know what I’m sayin….breakin bread….you know what I’m sayin?Like that, sharin.”

“You don’t like the truth, the truth..doesn’t taste good?…Well I guess you got a belly full of lies.”

The songs"Ruff 'em up","125th Street Knowledge"and "Power and&Money",take you back to Mbanja Ritchy's original style when he was still known as B-Bandj.He had released an album titled "Breaking Barriers"which was considered to be a "message rap"album.
Each song here,as well,is about Knowledge of self.Knowlege can be found all around us, in a book, a documentary on T.V. ,a conversation with a life coach etc..
But what good is it to have knowledge and not digest it with our mind, body and soul.
You must first know yourself before memorising things.Intelligence is experience, "right thoughts", morality, being able to relate to others anywhere around the world, rich, poor or social status.

What shapes the world?Who influences movements and so on.
We live in a vast Universe and there are always things to learn;but the answers can almost always be found within.
