Artist Profile
junnos
He was born in Tokyo, Japan. Singer/songwriter/guitarist. After the meltdown accident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant, he set off on a journey to find a good place to live with his family in a campervan. Two years later, he moved to Tanegashima Island in Kyushu, Japan. (The island is next to the World Heritage Site of Yakushima). There he set up his own music studio and spent his days spearfishing, drinking sake and shochu with friends and recording many songs. (He has released seven albums so far.) He has toured so much of Japan that he has never been to a place he hasn't visited, and his songs are still popular throughout the country. His lyrics are particularly noteworthy, and his use of the Japanese language is unique, beautifully interwoven with perspectives on biology and Shintoism. Now he is interested in world languages. Since 2024, he has moved with his family to Belgium to learn a new language. He continues to write songs today, travelling all over Japan, Asia and Europe.
