Yokai Reggae

"Yokai Reggae" is a fictional music project born from a simple idea: What if the yokai of Edo-period Japan had reggae? Inspired by legendary creatures such as the nine-tailed fox, oni, tengu, yuki-onna, and umi-bozu, the album blends reggae, ragga, dancehall, ska, roots reggae, and J-pop into a sound that should never have existed. Created by OOPARTS TRAX, a label dedicated to uncovering musical artifacts from impossible histories, this project invites listeners into a completely original musical world. Beginning with the nine-tailed fox's invitation, followed by dancing yokai, the Hyakki Yagyo, and finally a quiet walk into the night, "Yokai Reggae" is an 18-track concept album set in an alternate supernatural Edo timeline.
