OYOKA is a 12-year-old drummer from Ishikari, Hokkaido, Japan, and this is his first solo release under the name "Sparkling". It's an epic progressive song that starts with an impressive xylophone intro, and is a technical instrumental full of odd time signatures that was created remotely with musicians in LA. The composition is based on YOYOKA's melody fragments and ideas, and was co-written with Yukihide YT Takiyama, who is known as a support guitarist and arranger for B'z, Kyosuke Himuro, LiSA, and others. Rhonda Smith, known for her support of Prince, Jeff Beck, and Beyoncé, and Derek Sherinian, formerly of Dream Theater, on keyboards. The mix was done by three-time Grammy Award-winning recording engineer Sadaharu Yagi, who lives in LA.
This year, YOYOKA will be taking on a full-scale challenge from Hokkaido to the rest of the world, and the song that marks his new start has been completed.
