A Whale's Dream - Commentary - Revised
A whale's life is over, slowly sinking to the bottom of the ocean.
There's no food in the deep sea, where not even a ray of light reaches.
A whale's carcass suddenly appears in this harsh world, and various organisms gather around it, circulating life. A community of living organisms known as a "whale fall" forms around the whale's corpse.
The sight of a large whale's carcass, which has supported a diverse range of life for up to 100 years, slowly descending from the sky must seem like a ray of hope in a dark, starving world.
I was vaguely thinking about how I could put this mysterious whale ecology into lyrics, and the keywords "sea, water, blue" came to me on musical notes, and that's how this song came to me.
I believe that every human being lives with some kind of wound or weakness.
There are times when you feel exhausted by life, or when it's so difficult that you want to run away. At times like those, it's best to leave it all behind and let the wounds and pain sink in order to become a new person, so that you can face a new day.
The whale slowly sinks to the bottom of the ocean, as if to teach us this, so that new life can be born again.
