“I’m going to Oni Island to defeat the ogres,” Momotaro replied
“In that case, please give me one of the dumplings from your belt. I will join you.”
Momotaro gave the dog a dumpling, and the dog became his companion
Next, he met a monkey
“Momotaro, where are you going?”
“To Oni Island to defeat the ogres.”
“Then please give me a dumpling. I’ll go with you!”
Finally, he met a pheasant
“Momotaro, where are you going?”
“To Oni Island to defeat the ogres.”
“Then please give me a dumpling. I will join you.”
So Momotaro gained three loyal companions: the dog, the monkey, and the pheasant
