Midnight Freedom は、ひとつの別れを描いたアルバムではありません。これは、人生をもう一度自分の手に取り戻すための、夜から夜明けまでのドライブです。
静かな夜、高速道路を一人で走り出す 「Midnight Escape」。バックミラーに映る過去を見つめながらも、もう戻らないと決める 「Rearview Mirror」。ネオンに包まれた街は心を少しずつ癒し、孤独は 「Dancing Alone」 で自由へと姿を変え、「No More Chains」 では長い我慢や束縛を置いていきます。
やがて都会の夜景は新しい未来を映し出し、傷ついた心も 「Wild Hearts Never Break」 と歌い始めます。午前2時、一人でグラスを掲げる 「Champagne at 2AM」 は、寂しさではなく、自分の人生を祝福する時間。夜明けの高速道路を駆け抜ける 「Sunrise on the Freeway」 を経て、最後の 「Finally Me」 で主人公は「離婚した女性」でも「誰かの元パートナー」でもなく、「私自身」として新しい朝を迎えます。
EDMのビートに乗せて描かれるのは、恋愛の終わりではなく、人生の再スタート。窓を開けて夜風を感じながら、このアルバムを最後まで旅してもらえたら嬉しいです。
