I Promise You

This is a first album in which the straightforward feelings of Masayoshi Takahashi are transformed into music exactly as they are.

As a live artist, Takahashi stands alone on stage with nothing but his guitar and his voice, delivering his words directly from one person to another. This album captures that very same style, with all nine songs woven together using only guitar and vocals.

Each of the nine songs on this album has a specific you.Rather than singing words that could apply to anyone, Takahashi values the feeling of singing directly to the one person standing before him.

Love, everyday life, dreams, struggles, his past self, and feelings for someone important. Each song tells a different story, built around words meant to reach one particular person.

The album begins with Pierrot, followed by Hold My Hand and Hug Me Tight, Complementary Love, A Promise at the Top of the Tower, But., Cheers, To My Future Self, and Navel, before finally arriving at I Promise You.

The joy, loneliness, uncertainty, and regret that come from caring deeply for someone are all sung without embellishment. And in the end, they lead to one final promise.

There is a certain closeness that can only exist when one person stands alone on stage, holding a guitar and singing. A closeness that feels as though he is speaking directly to the youstanding right in front of him.

I Promise You is an album of nine songs, each sung with the intention of reaching just one person yet ultimately finding its way to the very own you of everyone who listens.
