A cover single of a Studio Ghibli song by Keiichi Sogabe.
This single is a pre-release from "Café Après-midi meets Studio Ghibli," a compilation of newly recorded cover versions of famous Studio Ghibli songs by 12 super-talented artists, supervised and selected by Toru Hashimoto (SUBURBIA)!
Keiichi Sogabe, the vocalist/guitarist of Sunny Day Service, and who has embodied the music-centered culture of the 1990s and beyond through his independent/DIY solo activities, covers Yumi Arai's "Yasashisa ni Tsutsumareta Nara," the theme song from Hayao Miyazaki's 1989 film "Kiki's Delivery Service."
The jacket features original artwork by Shiho Sato, a painter who works on backgrounds for Studio Ghibli films, and Shinichiro Yamada, an animator who came from Ghibli.
Born August 26, 1971. Virgo, blood type AB. From Kagawa Prefecture. Started working as the vocalist/guitarist of Sunny Day Service in the early '90s. In 1995, he released his first album, "Young People." His completely new sound, which reinterpreted and reconstructed '70s Japanese folk/rock in a '90s style, left a strong impression on listeners. He made his solo debut on Christmas 2001 with the single "Guitar," inspired by the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York. In 2004, he established his own label, ROSE RECORDS, and began working on an independent/DIY basis. Since then, in parallel with Sunny Day Service and his solo career, he has continued to express himself in a variety of forms, including producing, providing songs, film and commercial music, writing, and acting.
