"Marutake Ebisu" is a three-piece band consisting of guitarist/vocalist "Himeka," bassist "Rion, and drummer "Kurumi-all born in Kyoto, graduates of the same high school, and classmates. Himeka and Rion met in the light music club and invited Kurumi, who was in their class, to join them. The trio of classmates launched their band in the fall of their sophomore year of high school.
They officially formed the band in March 2024, and a post on X featuring a school-filmed cover of COMPLEX's "BE MY BABY" went viral, racking up 16,000 retweets, over 90,000 likes, and more than 10 million impressions. It garnered a response from Tomoyasu Hotei and was featured on Yahoo! News, becoming a major talking point. Subsequently, while receiving offers from numerous major labels, they debuted on September 20, 2024, with "Ham Ham GX (Ham Ham Galaxy)" through their own label, "Oshioike Records."The "Ham Ham GX" music video surpassed 1 million views within four months of its release, and the single CD-available exclusively at four stores-sold an impressive 2,000 copies in just one month and topped the weekly chart at Tower Records Kyoto. Marutake Ebisu continues to generate a huge buzz-including a feature on the front page of the Kyoto Shimbun's evening edition-and is receiving a constant stream of offers for events and media appearances.
On March 5, 2025, while still a high school student, she released her first full-length album, *Marutake Ebisu*, and on March 22 and 23-less than a year after her first live performance-she held a two-day solo concert at Kyoto Theater. She then embarked on the "Marutake Ebisu 47 Prefectures Tour "Kyōen Issen."
In 2026, an unexpected official collaboration with "Dokonjo Gaeru" was announced. Merchandise featuring Marutake Ebisu's original character Pyonkichi went on sale and sold out immediately, and now the release of the official "Dokonjo Gaeru × Marutake Ebisu" collaboration song, produced by Marutake Ebisu, has finally been confirmed.
With their unique characters attracting significant attention from overseas as well, they are a one-of-a-kind all-female band that never ceases to generate buzz.
