    Syohei Muto (Katteni-Shiyagare) Born on December 28, 1968 Born in Fukuoka, Japan A drummer singer and band leader of the seven-member group "Katteni-Shiyagare" formed in 1997, which sublimates jazz and swing into one-of-a-kind music in the spirit of rock and creates an overwhelming presence. The band focusing on the horn section and unique style of a singing drummer minus the presence of guitar, continues to receive enthusiastic support. In 2009, he also started solo activities in parallel with his band's activities. He is also activety plays the gut guitar. He was also involved in the two-person acoustic unit "Muto y Ueno" with former Thee Michelle Gun Elephant bassist Koji Ueno, but the project is currently suspended. In 2014, he participated as a drummer in the super band "THE King ALL STARS" led by Yuzo Kayama. He also appeared as an actor in movies such as "asunaku" (2011) and "Inumukoiri" (2017). In the spring of 2018, Syohei Muto was found to have esophageal cancer. He took a temporary rest for treatment and celebrated a complete revcovery on December 28 of the same year with a live event for his 50th birthday. He has a talent as a painter, his work including several Katteni-Shiyagare's album jackets. Muto held a solo exhibition of ballpoint pen paintings that he completed in his sick bed while fighting cancer. His reputation as a painter. especially ballpoint pen paintings, has spread, and he has also received a request for a portrait of Mr. Eikichi Yazawa from the official agent of Eikichi Yazawa. He is a modern trovador, and is active in a wide range of fields including composer, vocalist, drummer, actor, and painter. He is also an official Buddhist who was given the honorary posthumous Buddhist name from the Jodo sect.
