That Gaze

Five years have passed since the world ended.
In the chaos that remains, a man who works as a fixer-for-hire has managed to survive.
But one morning, he wakes with a terrible, sinking feeling.
The woman lying next to him, the events of yesterday-everything is hazy.
Just like the opening of some cheap B-movie,
his worst day begins without warning.

He goes about his job.
Yet he can feel it-that gaze clinging to his back.
A gaze from that woman, as if saying, "Run, and I'll kill you."

Through binoculars, he tracks his target.
And beyond them, a silent shadow continues to watch him.
In the cold, damp air,
