We have a word pronounced "You I" in Japanese, that means "friendship". This song was released in early 2021, when the whole world had been still locked down. At that time people rapidly got to interact with each other on the Internet. At the same time, I felt a trend had spread that it was ok to attack others with offensive words, for the sake of a cause such as "to protect lives" or "for peace". Looking at this atmosphere I became afraid to speak on the Internet. It is hard to understand people in different positions. However, it would be nice if everyone could at least stop for a moment and listen to the other opinion. Even if we have different opinions, we can still be friends... This is the background of this song. We were finally able to complete this music video after 3 years, in collaboration with France-based Japanese dancer/artist Ikumi Togawa. With her instrument and catchy rhythms, she introduces the beauty and sophistication of Japanese culture to the world, through traditional music and her original songs. Although completely involved in her music, Yuzu is a versatile artist who devotes herself to many activities, from performances in live venues to the presentation of radio programs. Yuzu's activity first started in 2013 in Tokyo as a singer and a keyboard player. In 2014 she joined the show of Akim Funk Buddha, an art director from New York. This performance opened the door to the U.S. for Yuzu to fly there to make several music performances. Through her experience there she realized the importance of learning her own culture, and started training herself to become an international shamisen player and composer.
