Following their previous release Repechage, the composer duo "629" (Masanobu Fujita and Ryo Hoshino) presents their highly anticipated second album, Try Again.
Active since around 2000, 629 has provided J-POP tracks for a diverse range of top artists, including Tomohisa Yamashita, AKB48, and BRIGHT. Their signature style is defined by a distinct groove and melodic sense, heavily influenced by 70s soul and funk legends like The Isley Brothers.
Like its predecessor, this EP is a collection of hidden gems featuring unreleased tracks originally produced around 2000, now re-arranged and brought to the world with their refined skills and modern sensibilities. The release includes four tracks in total, spearheaded by the lead and title track "Try again"-an anthem about the resilience to keep challenging oneself. It also features "Burn up!", "Melody", and "Tell Me Why".

629 is a J-Pop composer unit that has been active since the early 2000s. Over the past quarter-century, we have been at the heart of the J-Pop scene, creating music for a wide range of artists and organizations, including Tomohisa Yamashita, AKB48, Minami Takahashi, BRIGHT, All Japan Pro Wrestling, and the official anthem for the B.League Yamagata Wyverns. Having witnessed the evolution of J-Pop firsthand for 25 years, we have seen music production technology advance dramatically, finally allowing us to achieve the arrangements we originally envisioned but could not technically realize at the time. With the current resurgence of City Pop and Y2K culture, we felt it was the perfect moment to revisit our "lost" tracks. We have been re-arranging and digitally releasing these songs, breathing new life into compositions that remained unreleased until now. Though these tracks were once shelved, they remain precious to us, like our own children. We truly hope that the current era will resonate with the music we poured our hearts into.
