Teapot Requiem is a mid tempo city pop track that portrays a single night when the handle of a teapot snaps at the kitchen sink, revealing that the decisive crack in a relationship had been quietly traveling there long before tonight.

A Shinsen apartment, the soft breathing of a man asleep in the next room, the cold edge of broken porcelain in the palm of a hand, a thin line running through the inside of the handle base, and shards wrapped in newspaper and laid face down at the back of the cupboard create a quiet domestic scene where the small fracture of an everyday object reveals the unspoken outline of an ending.

Performed by the fictional AI singer Akemi, the song captures the emotions of adulthood that does not break things off in a sudden burst, but verifies in physical form that a crack had been moving forward for a long time, and chooses with her own hands to neither mend it, throw it away, nor place it somewhere visible.

Inspired by the late 1970s to early 1980s Japanese new music and urban pop, the track reimagines that era lyrical subtlety through images of late night kitchens, the quiet temperature of intimacy, and the small sounds of domestic life.

She folds the sharp edges of the broken porcelain inward, wraps the fragments in newspaper, and slides them deep into the cupboard while setting a different teapot at the front of the shelf.
What remains is not anger or apology, but the steady choice of a woman who decides for herself where to place a fracture she will neither repair nor discard.
