オルタナシューゲイザーデュオThe Otalsが主催し、昨年好評を博した、インディペンデントミュージシャンを集めて製作するスプリットアルバム『夏のルール』。その第二弾となるのが本作だ。今回は本格エレクトロサウンドと、ポップセンスを高い次元で同居させるSSWのPaperCloudと、00年代の邦楽ロックサウンドを継承し、男女ボーカルのハーモニーと繊細でエモーショナルなボーカルが魅力の、バーチャルシンガーユニット浮遊信号の二組が参加している。この『夏のルール』に代表されるThe Otalsの独自性溢れる試みは、楽曲の中にも色濃く反映されている。収録曲『波ちゃんとバク』はファジーなシューゲイズサウンドでありながら、BPMは220を超えており、高速なビートの中を煌くノイズが疾走する感覚は他に類を見ないサウンドだ。ポップパンクやメロコアの影響を受けて製作された本楽曲は、様式美に囚われない新時代のシューゲイズを体現している。ジャケットイラストは昨年と同じく、参加メンバー全員が描かれた描き下ろしが使用されている。
