A collaborative album by Korean pianist Suwon Yim and Japanese composer and sound artist Koji Itoyama.
Uki / Ugi is a collection of twelve pieces inspired by the shifting landscapes, memories, and quiet emotions that emerge during the rainy season. Beginning with piano sketches written by Suwon Yim, the music gradually unfolds through layers of ambient textures, noise, field recordings, and electroacoustic elements added by Koji Itoyama, creating a delicate world suspended between melody and soundscape.
The sound of rain against a window, mist-covered mornings, reflections on wet asphalt, ripples spreading across the surface of water. Each piece evokes a different scene shaped by rain, while the album as a whole traces the memory of a single, lingering season.
Blending minimalist piano with subtle electronic atmospheres, Uki / Ugi moves fluidly across the boundaries of contemporary classical, ambient, and electroacoustic music. The result is a quiet landscape that reveals itself only on rainy days, inviting listeners into a space where external sounds and inner memories gently converge.
