This work is inspired by Tanabata, a traditional Japanese summer festival rooted in ancient mythology. The song was released on July 7th - the very day Tanabata is celebrated.
During this festival, people write their wishes on small strips of paper called tanzaku (sometimes also referred to as shiori, meaning bookmarks) and hang them on bamboo leaves to send their hopes up to the sky.
This custom is based on the bittersweet legend of Orihime and Hikoboshi, two lovers who are allowed to meet only once a year by crossing the Milky Way.
The song carries a message of hope - that even when we cannot be with someone, we can still find love and happiness within our own hearts.
Ayaka Brandy herself has experienced painful and complex relationships: wanting to see someone she couldn't, being forgotten despite a promise, and struggling with feelings she couldn't let go of - even when she tried.
All of these emotions are reflected in this song.
This piece marks a turning point for her - a new beginning and a step forward.

Ayaka Brandy
Born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, her father's country. Due to the civil war, she moved to Japan when she was two months old. What is Yamato Nadeshiko as a [Japanese black person]? She has explored the meaning of femininity and has expressed her roots and spiritual world as a painter. In November 2024, she officially debuted as a rapper with her 1st EP - Sapeuse -. A queen who lives bravely and splendidly in a kimono She is deeply proud of her two roots. In its roots in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, there is a group called the Sapeur. They express their opposition to violence through their clothing and advocate a belief in peace. In Japan, another of its roots, a woman with a strong heart is called a Yamato Nadeshiko. I created the EP with the meaning of facing life's difficulties gracefully and without using ni**a, f**k, or D**k, and definitely grasping the light. All artwork and direction are handled by Ayaka Brandy, an artist who also works as a painter. The Democratic Republic of Congo is known as one of the main countries from which enslaved people were taken. HIPHOP is more than just rap-it's a form of expression for the soul. Wearing Japan's traditional kimono, Ayaka expresses pain, joy, sorrow, and anger through her music and art, sharing her message with the world.
