HAPPYのニューアルバム「Ancient Moods Mahollova Mind」は５年ぶり、３枚目のフルアルバムとなり、その楽曲のほとんどがパンデミック禍で作り上げられたメンバーの自宅スタジオにて録音されている。
アルバムタイトルの通り古代へ感じる魅力や心の探求をテーマにしており、まだ聞いたことのない音楽を探求するHAPPYらしく異国の雰囲気漂う新しいサウンドに仕上がった。
前回までの作品からさらに世界観が広がった今作では、普段使用している楽器に加えて大正琴、ライアーハープ、バンスリ、コンガやジャンベなど様々な楽器をメンバー自ら演奏し、これまでのキャッチーなアプローチは継承しつつ表現の幅が拡大している。
マスタリングにはWooden ShjipsやDrugdealerなどを手掛けたTimothy Stollenwerkを起用しており、響きの深さと奥行きは以前にも増した。
時代のうねりが極まる近年、人々に必要なのは心の探究。
心の平安を探し求めればやがて「まほろば」にたどり着き
音の起源、根源を見つめれば太古の記憶や活動が浮かび上がる。
古代の感情へ思い馳せ、その先に見えたまほろばの心がそこにあった。
アーティスト情報
HAPPY
京都府綾部市出身、サイケデリックバンド。 2012年から都内を中心に活動中の Alec(gt/vo) Ric(key/vo) Chew(gt) Syu(ba) Bob(dr/vo) からなる５人組。 ライブでは主に orihasamado(sax/conga)を迎えた６人編成で活動中。 既に多くの未発表の新曲やジャムセッションを演奏しており、自身らも関わるアートチーム「Paint Groove」のイベントでは Jesus Weekend と共に演奏する７人編成のエクスペリメンタルセットでライブを行った。 その他2023年に公開されたサーフトリップムービー「Crossing Brides」のサウンドトラック参加、某レイブへゲリラ出演し話題になった日の出までの３時間に渡るロングジャムセッションなど 音楽的な実験と探究を軸に幅広く活動している。
