This work is a musical piece created for the exhibition "Skippy Stones."
It is inspired by the game of skipping stones, expressing in sound the thrill of throwing a stone, the rhythm of it bouncing repeatedly on the water, and the quiet resonance that follows.
Music is also approached as an object that can be enjoyed like a tangible "toy," positioned as another form of "Skippy Stones" that interacts with the exhibition space.
Launched in 2023 as a project by Koji Nakamura. It began with the concept of a fictional toy company that transforms Nakamura's puppets into toys and products. Today, Bombori Studio has grown to include artists such as Shuto Mizukami and Yuto Imaeda, working together on daily production. We have lived through the spread of the iPhone, the rise of social media, and the increasing presence of AI in our everyday lives. As immaterial content becomes the center of daily experience, we are once again drawn to the power of toys and small-scale works of art - tangible, real objects that can be held in one's hands. At Bombori Studio, starting from this sensibility, we create and present product-based works centered on toys, while also engaging in music production. Just like toys, we see music as something that can be picked up and enjoyed in everyday life - another form of reality that expands the world of our works.
