Toyocho Ondo
TYC
TYC is a Japanese "City Pop" band from Toyocho in Koto Ward, a vibrant urban city in the Tokyo bay area. The band was formed in 2018 by two local musicians and their session crew. Hisoyaka (frontman and composer) has been known to provide music for online projects and theatrical works. He and Radio Name Ammonia Night (lyricist) made songs with exquisite high-context lyrics that are performed here by the members who have their roots in jazz and pop. This debut album, inspired by the city, contains seven tunes and all of them incorporate scenes cut out from the city into the music. Its catchy, merrow and diverse sounds are full of Japanese pop music spirit and their love for Toyocyo. This album is likely to create a new genre of local community-based city pop called "Koto City Pop".
