Artist Profile

  • Hibikilla

Hibikilla is a reggae/dancehall artist from Ebetsu, Hokkaido, currently based in the Kanto region. He started his musical journey in his teens, and his 2004 release "Hyakuretsuken" became an anthem in the sound clash scene, claiming the #1 spot on the Cisco Records 7-inch singles chart. Between 2006 and 2009, he released four albums in steady succession: "No Problem," "Nouko Minzoku," "LIFE," and "BE FREE." In 2011, his self-produced fourth album "FREEDOM_BLUES," featuring "Saiaku no Jitai" which was hailed as a landmark of Japanese-language roots music, earned him the Music Magazine Best Album Award, cementing his place at the forefront of the Japanese reggae scene throughout the 2000s. Even after a hiatus to raise his family, he returned without missing a beat. In 2020, "Kono Sekai feat. Dabo" hit #1 on the iTunes Store reggae singles chart. "Wha Gwaan Midnight feat. Tach-B and Zukie" went on to claim the #1 spot globally for annual reggae streams on the web3 music platform Audius. In November 2023, he released "KillerTune," his first full album in 12 years, which topped the iTunes Store reggae album chart. In 2024, he entered the DeeJay Clash event "Combat," generating buzz with high-quality tracks in the preliminary rounds. In 2025, he produced "Crab Inna Barrel Riddim," a riddim one-way album showcasing a new generation of artists. In 2026, his Instagram Reels sparked a run of viral hits, led by "Gyaku ni -Flip di ting-," which garnered 3,700 likes, as multiple tracks surpassed 1,000 likes. Rooted in sound system culture and forged in the Rub a Dub arena, his mic game continues to prove that real skill and vibes never go out of style.
