Artist Profile

  • Aya Kameoka

Aya Kameoka Vibraphone and marimba player. Singer/songwriter. One of the world's rare vibraphone players. She has a crystal clear voice. In addition, her lyric "Yureru, Tayutau" (Fluctuating and Floating) comes across as unadorned, feminine, and dainty to a worldwide audience. She was born in Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. She began playing the marimba at the age of 12 and was a member of the Hiroshima Junior Marimba Ensemble. After graduating from Hiroshima Music High School, she entered Koyo School of Music in Kobe, where she majored in vibraphone. She moved to New York after graduation. She temporarily returned to Japan in 2018, and started performing music in Tokyo, mainly in the style of reciting while playing the vibraphone. Released her first album "January 6 - In My Left Hand, Everyday Life in the Color of the Sun Through the Trees" in the same year. In 2022, she moved back to the U.S. and made her home in San Diego, California. In 2023, she released an original album "Yureru, Tayutau" (Fluctuating and Floating) in which there are 8 songs including 3 instrumental songs. From January to February 2024, she temporarily returned to Japan and held an anniversary Japan tour to celebrate the completion of the album.
