Lyric

On the night you gave birth to the flame

You closed your eyes and slipped away

Holding the vow we swore before

I walked the path to the underworld's door

Descending deep where the darkness reigns

Searching for you through the shadowed plains

My knocking echoes, lost in the air

No answer comes to my desperate prayer

“I can't return, my love — it’s too late

I've tasted the food of the dead, sealed my fate

Wait for me here till I ask the divine

And please, don't look upon this form of mine”

With only that promise to hold onto

I waited alone in the dark for you

Through the longest night, I guarded the light

A single small flame against endless night

But time wore on, heavy as stone

My burning heart could not wait alone

I broke the comb and lit its spine

And in that flash — the world stood still

Before my eyes, a stranger in pain

Maggots crawling where the thunder remained

I couldn't speak the name I once knew

I saw the one I was never meant to view

The demons of Yomi rose from the ground

Her fury tore through the darkness around

Don't look back — that's the only way

Run from the love that could no longer stay

At Yo-mo-tsu Hi-ra-sa-ka, the end of the line

I raised the boulder and drew the divide

“If this is how it ends, I'll take a thousand lives each day”

“Then fifteen hundred shall be born into the light”

Beyond the stone, you faded from sight

Two separate worlds, forever apart

Goodbye, my love, my Izanami

Goodbye to the world we shared

A thousand lives may fall into night

Fifteen hundred will rise to the light

Death has its kingdom, life has its way

And the world keeps turning into another day

I left you there beyond the stone

And walked the road back on my own

I wash away the darkness, I wash away the pain

From my fingertips, a light breaks free

The vow is broken, the silence remains

Izanami…

Farewell
