Like Autumn

"The sky grows higher, and so do I."

I love autumn because it's neither too hot nor too cold. The air is crisp, the nights are longer, and everything tastes just a little too good.

I love it for all the things that make me hate it: the irresistible food, the extra helpings, and the mysterious feeling that gravity itself gets stronger this time of year.

I love it, so I hate it. I hate it, but I love it.

With that contradiction in my heart -- and perhaps a little more weight around my waist -- I'll be waiting for autumn again this year.
