子ども4人のうち、3人が不登校。
行ける朝もある。玄関で足が止まる朝もある。
そしてあるとき家族は
「学校に戻す」ことをやめる。
それは子どもの未来を諦めたのではない。
むしろ逆だったのかもしれない。
「この子を変えなきゃ」ではなく
「親である自分たちのほうを変えよう」と決めた。
働く時間を変える。
残業をやめる。
家族と過ごす時間を増やす。
減った収入と増えた出費を支えるために、
朝4時からパソコンを開いて文章を書く。
学校へ行く道だけが人生ではないのなら、
まず父親である自分自身が、
「会社員として決められた一本道だけじゃなくても生きていける」ことを実践していく。
不安になる日もある。
正解がわからなくなる朝もある。
今日ご飯を食べられた。
今日家で笑えた。
今日もこの子はここにいる。
「大丈夫かもしれん」
それくらいの言葉なら
今の自分にも言えるかもしれない。

冒頭はひとりの父親が記憶をたどるように。そこから家族の戸惑い、葛藤、決断へと進むにつれて、男性ボーカルも少しずつ広がりを見せる。
もし今お子さんが学校へ行けなくなって、
「この先どうなるんだろう」と眠れない夜を過ごしているお父さん、お母さんがいたら。
この曲も、この本も
「絶対、大丈夫」
なんて無責任なことは言えない。
でも、隣に座って
「学校に行けない今日が、この子の人生の失敗になるわけじゃない」
と、一緒に考えてくれる。
今日すぐに「大丈夫」と思えなくてもいい。

「うちも、大丈夫かもしれん」
そう思える朝が来ますように。
