Born in Yamanaka Onsen, Kaga City, Ishikawa, Hiromi Matsu grew up surrounded by the winds of the Sea of Japan. Leaving his hometown behind, he set out for Ueno to pursue his dream, later studying classical voice at the Tokyo University of the Arts. His debut single, "Saraba Ishikawa, Nihonkai" (Farewell, Ishikawa, Sea of Japan), echoes the journey that shaped him as a singer.
Longing for home, love for family, the determination to chase a dream, and the warmth of the people encountered along the way-the song tells the story of a man who carries his hometown in his heart while continuing to move forward, set to a nostalgic yet powerful kayōkyoku melody.
Today, Matsu performs as a "Nursing Home Kayō Singer", bringing classic Shōwa-era kayōkyoku and enka to elderly care facilities.
For everyone who has ever left home.
For everyone still chasing a dream.
The first chapter of Hiromi Matsu's heartfelt kayōkyoku journey.
