ACEの「PRINCESS MAKER」は、
一見すると4曲入りのシンプルなロック作品だ。
しかし、その中に描かれているのは
"4種類の人間の闇"である。
権力。
孤独。
欲望。
後悔。
アルバムはこの4つを順番に描きながら進んでいく。
1 PRINCESS MAKER
テーマ：権力
アルバムの幕開けは、
過去曲「NUTCRACKER」の続編となるタイトル曲。
NUTCRACKERで王は膝をついた。
しかし、それでは終わらない。
人は王を倒しても、
また新しい王を作ってしまう。
だから必要なのは“破壊”ではなく
神話の書き換えだ。
王冠を奪うのではなく、
王冠という概念そのものを消す。
「PRINCESS MAKER」は
その思想を叫ぶ、アルバムで最も攻撃的なロックトラックだ。
2 Blue Midnight
テーマ：孤独
続く「Blue Midnight」は
夜の都市を舞台にしたロックナンバー。
ネオンに濡れた街。
人はいるのに誰とも繋がらない夜。
この曲が描く孤独は、
恋人を失った悲しみではない。
もっと静かなものだ。
人生は続いている。
仕事もある。
街も動いている。
それなのに、
心だけがどこにも繋がっていない。
この曲の主人公は
自分がいつ壊れたのかすら
思い出せない。
それが Blue Midnight。
夜の底。
感情が沈み続ける時間だ。
3 Blue Blood Demon
テーマ：欲望
三曲目はアルバムの中でも
最も挑発的なロックソング。
「Blue Blood Demon」は
Akitoの実体験をもとにしたストーリーを
Hideが歌詞として再構築したものだ。
テーマは
愛と金、そして自己投資。
「Being a woman costs a lot」
という言葉に象徴されるように、
この曲は現代の関係性の歪みを描く。
SNS時代の恋愛。
特別扱いを求める価値観。
そして、愛を装った搾取。
華やかな言葉の裏にある
空っぽの王国。
「Blue Blood Demon」は
その正体を暴き出す。
4 Unseasonal Snow
テーマ：後悔
アルバムの最後を飾るのは
唯一のバラード「Unseasonal Snow」。
ここまで3曲、
ロックで人間の闇を描いてきたACEは、
最後に静かな物語を置く。
春なのに降る雪。
それは
忘れたはずの恋の記憶だ。
5年前、生活を共にしていた恋人。
忙しさを理由に手放してしまった関係。
今の人生はうまくいっている。
幸せかと聞かれれば、
そう答えることもできる。
だが、
季節外れの雪が降る夜だけは違う。
あの時の記憶が
静かに戻ってくる。
この曲は実は
1年前に完成していたが、
Ryoが喉のポリープ手術を控えていたため
一度ボツになる予定だった。
しかし久しぶりに聴き直したとき、
その感情はまだ消えていなかった。
まるで
季節外れの雪のように。
結論
「PRINCESS MAKER」は
単なるロックEPではない。
王を壊す物語。
都市の孤独。
欲望に支配された関係。
そして、消えない後悔。
4曲はそれぞれ違うテーマを持ちながら、
すべて "人間の弱さ"に繋がっている。
ロックの衝動の裏にある感情。
それを真正面から描いた作品が
PRINCESS MAKERだ。
