Megumi-Kei is an instrumental unit consisting of clarinetist/EWI player Megumi Wakabayashi and violinist Kei Amano.
The two, who are both active in the music scene both in Japan and abroad, teamed up to make their shocking online debut in 2017 with "MuGiK," which generously featured their outstanding virtuosity.
Since then, they have continued to impress rock fans with their hard rock-inspired virtuoso pieces, such as covers of classic songs by genius guitarists such as Michael Schenker, Tony MacAlpine, and Jeff Beck.
Also their original song "Cozy Beat," which incorporates the high-speed shuffle of legendary drummer Cozy Powell, their YouTube videos have become a hot topic.
On the other hand, the original songs they create themselves, which cover a wide range of genres, such as the dance tune "Hang in There" by clarinetist Wakabayashi and the sad ballad "Always with You" by violinist Amano, are also overwhelming in their high quality.
Having overcome the COVID-19 pandemic, they have released eight singles so far, but now they are finally ready to release their long-awaited first album.
In addition to the eight songs already released, this album also includes re-recordings of two songs that many fans have been eagerly awaiting: "I Cherish You" and "Aqualine," composed by Wakabayashi and only performed at their concerts.
We look forward to seeing more future success from these "beautiful challengers," Megumi-Kei.
Megumi-Kei is the instrumental unit of Megumi Wakabayashi (Clarinet/EWI) and Kei Amano (Violin). "MuGiK", titled from the unit's initial, is the virtuoso piece which has made the most of their techniques, collaborated and produced with Hayata Akashi, on 2017. It must be the first instrumental rock piece by a clarinet and a violin, and Megumi-Kei's representative work of their gigs.
