Serial Killer

Manjiro, an artist based in Tokyo and originally from Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, is set to release his debut album, *Serial Killer*, on December 4th.

The title does not simply refer to a gruesome murderer; rather, it reflects his personal philosophy of repeatedly "killing" his past self to be reborn anew. He constantly undergoes transformation and self-reconstruction, and the conflicts, contradictions, thoughts, and impulses that arise during this process form the foundation of the album.

The title also draws inspiration from a cocktail of the same name that he happened to encounter at a bar while producing his first single. That single drink sparked a creative expansion, shaping the lyrical themes and the overall worldview of the album's tracks.

His sound is characterized by a fusion of hip-hop with elements of alternative, electronic, noise, and distortion. Unbound by existing genres or conventions, he crafts a fresh sound driven by the sensibilities he has cultivated over time rather than relying on innate traits.

The album explores his internal conflicts and transformations, his sense of disconnect from those around him, social disparities, deep-seated yearnings, and loneliness, as well as his philosophy on life and death. Far from mere resentment, the work is imbued with a determination to confront himself contradictions and all and to transcend his past self.

Manjiro handled almost every aspect of the album's creation himself, from beat-making, rapping, mixing, and mastering to the design of the album cover.
By sublimating his inner thoughts, emotions, and impulses into sound, he has created a work that embodies a form of expression unique to Manjiro.
