"Kenakenami" comes from the slang of Japanese painters, meaning "a day off."
This song answers the timeless question, "What do we work for?"with a clear and honest truth: we work so we can live, rest, and enjoy the things we love.
There's the longing for days off, the envy of those who seem free to enjoy life, and the pride of knowing that working even in tough conditions creates that very freedom.
Earn to rest. Rest to enjoy.
That cycle is what makes life colorful, and in the end, it's all about living to the fullest and enjoying every moment.
This track captures the bittersweet balance between labor, freedom, and joy through the eyes of a craftsman.

Artist Profile

  • painter shige

Painter with 25 Years of Experience / Craftsman & Business Owner Inherited traditional Japanese techniques from my father, a master of early Showa-era painting methods. I've worked with nearly every type of "paint" exterior, interior, special finishes, aging, sculptural, repair, and vehicles. Outside of work, I enjoy playing golf in an antique style, using 100-year-old clubs for a unique approach to the game. Actively promoting the value and recognition of craftsmanship in modern society.
