New Album "Some Dad Rap Songs"
"Some Dad Rap Songs" is the new album by VOLOJZA, consisting of nine tracks.
All beats on the album are produced by New Jersey-based beatmaker Subjxct5.
Subjxct5 is known for his work with artists such as Wiki, Papo2oo6, and DJ Lucas.
His tape released with Papo2oo6 last year was featured by Pitchfork.
On this album, VOLOJZA focuses entirely on rapping and places greater emphasis on wordplay than in his previous works.
The lyrics are based on his everyday life as a man in his forties, who is both a worker and a father.
Themes such as work, family, time constraints, hesitation, and delayed decisions are described without exaggeration.
The title "Some Dad Rap Songs" does not refer to nostalgia or looking back.
Instead, it reflects a present-tense perspective.
This album documents the act of continuing to rap without using age or social position as an excuse.
The track "Tonight" features doq from the same crew, VLUTENT.
Mixing and mastering were handled by OGGYWEST and LEXUZ YEN, who also worked on Die, No Ties, Fly.
