"C1 (Tokyo Inner Loop)" is the new single from ROUTE14band, a trumpet-led instrumental band from Kawasaki, Japan - and their first full-throttle dive into Japanese fusion. Named after C1, the inner loop of Tokyo's elevated Metropolitan Expressway, the track is a midnight run through the neon-lit city: Chihiro Yamazaki's trumpet takes the vocalist's seat over a tight, driving groove, carrying the J-fusion lineage of T-SQUARE and Casiopea into the 2020s. Mastered by Idania Valencia at Sterling Sound. With 10 SXSW appearances and 9 years at New Zealand's Bay of Islands Jazz & Blues Festival, ROUTE14band captures where they are now - always moving forward. From their upcoming album.
ROUTE14band is a trumpet-led instrumental band from Kawasaki, Japan, founded in 2010 by trumpeter Chihiro Yamazaki. Built on the concept of "singing instruments," the band plays instrumental pop in which the trumpet takes the vocalist's seat - music that speaks without words. Their track record spans the globe: 10 appearances at SXSW in Austin, Texas (2013-2025), and nine appearances at New Zealand's Bay of Islands Jazz & Blues Festival, capped by a completely sold-out five-show New Zealand tour in 2026. The band has released albums through King Records, built a catalog of more than 100 songs, and reaches listeners across Asia through distribution partnerships with JinuRock Entertainment (Korea, since 2013) and Hi-Five Technology (China, since 2017). Recent milestones include "Ghibli Reimagined" (2025), a collaborative cover album by ROUTE14band × Ryu Miho, whose track "Treasures of Time" surpassed 100,000 plays on TikTok, and supporting Japanese star MINMI at Freedom LA 2025. A new album is now in the making, with a release party at JZ Brat Sound of Tokyo on September 16, 2026.
