Hello music lovers! I'm Shu Hakamada, a Japanese singer-songwriter born on 1959. I suffered hearing loss in 2006 and was forced to give up my career as a professional musician in my mid-40s. Since then, I was away from music for over 15 years, but in 2024 I returned with a new passion.
'Restart' represents my musical rebirth, featuring a journey through diverse melodies and harmonies - from upbeat anthems to soul-searching ballads. Drawing inspiration from The Beatles, classic rock and roll, and Motown, these songs explore themes of love, grief, and hope.
This album was created entirely at home, with all tracks played, recorded, and mixed by myself.
Creating 'Restart' was like rediscovering a part of myself I thought I'd lost. It's living proof that age is no barrier to pursuing new dreams. We were all born to run - to chase our passions, overcome challenges, and reinvent ourselves at any stage of life.

ビートルズをはじめとする往年のルーツ・ミュージックに強く影響を受けた、メロディック・ポップを作っています。 1987年、キングレコードからソロアルバムを発表し、その後約20年間、作曲家・アレンジャーとして、300曲を超えるCD作品の編曲などに携わりました。15年以上音楽から離れたあと、2024年、64歳でアルバム『Restart』を発表しました。 僕が大切にしているのは、人間が主導する音楽(Human-Led Music)です。英語詞の調整やコーラスの一部、ミックス作業の一部などに、道具としてAIを使うこともありますが、作詞・作曲からアレンジ、歌、ギターやベースなどの演奏、録音まで、自分自身で行っています(一部の曲は、友人が作詞しています)。 作り手の顔が見えにくくなった今だからこそ、誰がどんな思いで作ったのかが伝わる音楽を届けていきたいと思っています。
